A caregiver in this role works days from 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. with rotating weekends and holiday requirements A caregiver who excels in this role will: Inspect, operate and maintain a high pressure/steam powerhouse, HVAC systems and emergency power and fire protection systems. Monitor and maintain HVAC-related source and distribution equipment such as steam, chilled water, water chemistry, humidification, air handling, etc. Monitor and respond to all fire protection systems. Respond to all emergency calls. Test and monitor emergency generators and transfer equipment. Work at other Cleveland Clinic facilities as needed. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: A high school diploma or GED. Third Class Stationary Engineers License from the State of Ohio. Military experience as a Machinists Mate (MM), Electric Power Production (3E0X2) or a similar role will be considered. Knowledge in one or more of the following areas: steam distribution systems, condensate systems, large chiller systems, water distribution systems, cooling towers and air handling systems Working knowledge of blueprints and electrical schematics. Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Preferred two years of experience as a stationary engineer or industrial/utility power plant operator. Time spent in a Stationary Engineer Apprenticeship Program may be applied toward this preferred experience Knowledge of fire protection equipment, building automation equipment, emergency generators, and HVAC equipment is preferred Physical Requirements: Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods Ability to be mobile for extended periods of time Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information Ability to move/transport items weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.) Ability to move/transport equipment weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.) Ability to move/transport carts weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)
