Under the direction of the Chief Engineer I, the Stationary Engineer performs a variety of skilled tasks which include maintenance and repair of all culinary equipment including dishwashing, air handling equipment, pumps, air compressors, steam equipment, mechanical equipment, welding and machine work. Inspects, maintains and repairs plumbing, heating, boilers, air conditioning, refrigeration, water and sewer systems. Performs electrical maintenance and repair work. Does minor building repairs and preventative maintenance work orders. This position has the responsibility for the maintenance of buildings, utilities, and equipment at the California Men’s Colony (CMC) East and West Facilities. Maintains order and supervises incarcerated persons; preventing escapes, maintains security of working areas and work materials. May be required to undergo a physical and pulmonary examination of the respirator program. May be required to participate on an asbestos abatement team with proper training and the Confined Space Entry Program. May be required to be certified and participate in Backflow Prevention Program. Order materials while maintaining, understanding and implementing all proper procurement procedures. Work hours may vary. Perform other duties as assigned and required.
