JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Requires a minimum of 5 years of statutory accounting experience in a P&C Insurance environment
  • Must understand GAAP and SAP frameworks
  • Public accounting experience with Big 4 preferred
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Possess excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills
  • Thinks critically and anticipates, recognizes, identifies, and develops solutions to problems promptly
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including presentation skills
  • CPA strongly preferred, or other designations
  • Familiar with RBC, reserves, and losses

Responsibilities
  • Prepares and reviews quarterly and annual statements for the three insurance companies
  • Completes audited financial statements for the three insurance companies
  • Completes annual MD&A for the three insurance companies
  • Prepares all annual filings with the states of domicile and all other licensed states
  • Create reinsurance accounting procedures and internal control documentation
  • Provide all monthly filings with reinsurers
  • Prepares all reinsurance and statutory journal entries
  • Reconciles statutory-related accounts
  • Work with compliance to ensure all state requirements are met
  • Work with the actuary on Schedule P and loss development information
  • Responsible for all insurance company accounting correspondence with states
  • Coordinates with external auditors regarding all statutory audits
