Statutory Planner Reference number: 11226 Closing date: 11pm - Friday 24th July * Full-time temporary role until June 2027 * Band 5 role. $43.07 per hour + 12% superannuation * Monthly RDOs available * Hybrid working arrangements available The Opportunity Positioned within Council's City Development Department, this position will see you responsible for providing quality specialist services, guidance and advice in all facets of statutory planning, subdivision control and other services provided by the Statutory Planning Unit. You will assist Council in meeting its legislative obligations and planning objectives through the timely assessment of planning applications and the delivery of high-quality customer service to residents, businesses and the development community. Key Responsibilities Statutory Planning * Promptly assess and process planning permit applications, with a focus on the timely facilitation and determination of VicSmart applications and other applications capable of assessment under delegation. * Assess planning applications in accordance with the Planning Scheme, Planning and Environment Act 1987, Subdivision Act 1988 and Council policies, including the referral of applications, public notice requirements, requests for further information and liaison with relevant stakeholders. * Assess VicSmart applications, Secondary Consents, Condition 1 Plans, Demolition Consents, Extensions of Time and Sustainable Development Design submissions, including Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) and Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) requirements. * Prepare planning reports, permit conditions, recommendations and correspondence relating to statutory planning matters. * Undertake site inspections and provide recommendations in accordance with adopted delegations and departmental procedures. * Provide technical planning advice and assistance to applicants, consultants, the development industry and internal stakeholders. * Ensure applications are processed in accordance with legislative requirements and statutory timeframes. Reporting * Prepare accurate and timely reports on planning, subdivision and other matters relating to services provided by the department. * Prepare correspondence and documentation associated with statutory planning applications and related matters. Customer Service * Implement the Moonee Valley Planning Scheme and Council planning policies while providing accurate and up-to-date planning information to the community and internal stakeholders. * Respond to enquiries regarding land use, development requirements and statutory planning processes in a professional and timely manner. * Provide clear and practical advice regarding planning legislation, Council policies and development requirements. * Deliver high-quality customer service that promotes positive outcomes for applicants, stakeholders and the broader community. Skills & Experience * A tertiary qualification in Urban Planning or a related discipline. * Some relevant experience in Statutory Planning is desirable. * Ability to interpret and apply planning legislation, policies and statutory requirements. * Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical planning information clearly and professionally. * Well-developed customer service and stakeholder engagement skills. * Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and meet statutory deadlines. * Current Victorian Driver's Licence.
