QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) with post-qualification experience in statutory reporting and tax compliance.
  • Proven experience in preparing statutory accounts and managing external audits.
  • Solid understanding of UK tax regulations, including corporate tax, VAT, and PAYE.
  • Experience working in a complex or multi-entity environment, ideally within a growing or fast-paced organisation.
  • Familiarity with financial control frameworks and risk management practices.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Strong knowledge of IFRS.
  • Proficient in financial systems and tools (e.g., ERP systems like SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite).
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with reconciliation and reporting tools.
  • Comfortable interpreting and applying changes in tax and financial regulations.
Responsibilities

ROLE PURPOSE:

Due to exceptional and continuous growth, we are currently seeking a Statutory, Tax and Controls Accountant to join our Finance team in Crawley.
Working as part of a growing finance team and reporting directly to the Finance Director, this role is responsible for the preparation of statutory accounts, ensuring tax compliance, and maintaining a strong financial control environment. The role plays a key part in supporting audit readiness, regulatory reporting, and strategic financial planning, while collaborating across departments to ensure alignment with evolving financial and tax obligations.
The ideal candidate will come from an audit or tax background and be looking to broaden their experience beyond technical specialism. This role offers a unique opportunity to apply their expertise in a broader finance context supporting statutory reporting, strengthening financial controls, and contributing to month-end close and management reporting. The Statutory, Tax and Controls Accountant will also work closely with the Finance and Strategy teams on a range of business projects, playing a key role in enhancing financial governance and supporting strategic decision-making.
This role may require occasional travel, necessitating a valid passport and driving licence.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and file statutory accounts in line with accounting standards.
  • Manage year-end audits and ensure timely regulatory filings.
  • Lead corporate tax, VAT, and PAYE compliance, including PSAs.
  • Develop tax strategy and manage legal entity structuring.
  • Strengthen financial controls and mitigate compliance risks.
  • Ensure banking covenant and funding transaction compliance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support financial and tax obligations.
  • Support month and year-end close processes.
