WHAT YOU BRING

  • Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Minimum Grade 12 diploma
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • A valid Alberta Journeyperson Steamfitter ticket is preferred. Boilermaker or Welder tickets, or a Red Seal certification
  • At least 5 years’ experience in an industrial setting including apprenticeship experience
  • Dual trade ticket holder is an asset such as Pipefitter + Boilermaker, and/or Welder
  • Experience with digital technologies, including proficiency in Office 365 tools such as OneNote and MS Teams is a plus
  • Familiarity with the Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate), P6 Team Member, and iPad usage is considered an asset
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs, work at heights and in confined spaces
  • Ability to lift and carry 20 kg from ground to waist level
  • Ability to work safely wearing a respirator or Self-contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)
  • Must be willing to participate in off-shift coverage (nights and weekends), cold weather coverage, and Turnaround support

Accountabilities:

  • Assists in the development of preventive maintenance systems, surplus program, maintenance practices and procedures, infrastructure (tools and equipment) and SAGE steam trap program
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively within the team, across crafts, and with operations
  • Exhibit strong leadership skills by self-directing tasks in alignment with site priorities
  • Active engaging in ensuring the safety of self and co-workers, providing, and accepting interventions to achieve Goal Zero and adheres to Shell Scotford policies and Shell’s Life Saving rules
  • Verify and perform work as requested on approved work orders, including follow up and sign off
  • Maintain process piping, vessels, and other related static equipment at Scotford
  • Provide feedback to planners, Specialists, and schedulers to help improve plan and schedule quality
  • Assist MTL with Preventative Maintenance forecasting/compliance and work order backlog management
  • Work with Maintenance Technical Support Team, Operations and Engineering Services on identified repeat failures, Root Cause Analysis and Reliability issues
  • Interface with Operations, other Craft Team Member Groups, and contractors
  • Troubleshoot cause of equipment problems and make repairs on piping systems, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, heaters, and filters in conjunction with routine and preventive maintenance functions
  • Operate power and hand tools with skill and precision
  • Make sound decisions based upon maintenance guidelines and principles and works well with others under any situation
  • Execute preventative and predictive maintenance programs
  • Provide input into production unit shutdown work scope and overhaul issues
  • Understand and follow Maintenance Execution Work Process practices and procedures
  • Aid in integrity audits of equipment installations for new projects
  • Perform work in all business units and areas on an as needed basis
  • Periodically coordinate multitrade jobs in the field in reactive scenarios
  • Maintain a high standard of workmanship, safety awareness, and housekeeping, while also keeping accurate records and drawings
  • Provide and enter history for equipment repair and feedback to plans
  • Utilize computer-based maintenance systems such as GSAP, Blueprint, and OneNot
Responsibilities

Shell is seeking a Steamfitter - Upgrader (internally known as a Craft Team Member – UPG Pipefitter) who will report to the Maintenance Team Lead (MTL). The Craft Team Member (CTM) is responsible for performing maintenance and troubleshooting activities within their skill set to support safe and reliable operations. Guided by the MTL, the CTM collaborates with other team members to execute a coordinated maintenance schedule. They also work closely with other craft disciplines to carry out repairs and perform preventative maintenance, ensuring high reliability and efficient equipment care.
The Shell Scotford Complex is a short drive from Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta and consists of a bitumen upgrader, oil refinery, chemicals plant and a carbon capture and storage (CCS) facility. Scotford has both union and nonunion hourly employees. The refinery and chemical plants are unionized, and the upgrader is not unionized. This posting is for non-unionized parts of the complex.
