Description

JOB SUMMARY

Cut, form, roll and weld parts into assemblies in accordance with blueprints such as stairs, ladders, railings and/or structural and custom jobs. Ideal candidates will have the ability to complete projects on time, in spec and within budget. Reports to the Fabrication Project Manager.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED; completion of a technical trade program and/or certification preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a machine shop, or other industrial setting
  • Basic math skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to read drawings, plans, and blueprints and convey this information to others
  • Ability to communicate effectively including interpersonal skills; must be a team player
  • Attention to detail
  • Good physical condition and stamina
  • Must have own tools/tool box
  • Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequently required to walk, sit, stand, balance, stoop, bend, push, pull, lift, reach, kneel, crouch, crawl and climb stairs/ladders and use of hands
  • Must have vision, hearing, and ability to talk
  • Most work is indoors with exposure to hot/cold temperatures
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
  • Ability to travel independently throughout multiple NAMS facilities including customer job sites

Responsibilities
  • Adheres to all company policies and OSHA safety rules & regulations
  • Takes swift action to stop any imminent danger situations you may encounter
  • Promptly reports all accidents including minor first aid, property damages, and near misses;
  • Conducts daily workplace exams; identifies and promptly resolves potential hazards or immediately barricades area or equipment and contacts NAMS and/or the customer’s safety team to resolve
  • Fabricates steel and other metal parts according to blueprints
  • Layout
  • Uses measuring tools to inspect work
  • Preassembles fabricated items
  • Sets up and operates plasma table, press brakes, shear, metal saw, iron worker, plate rolls, welding machines (GMAW, SMAW, GTAW), milling machines, and lathe
  • Maintains tools and equipment
  • Practices good housekeeping; keeps work area clean and organized
  • Assists with fabrication/machining tasks as assigned
  • Assists with installation in the field as needed
  • Other projects and duties as assigned
