JOB OVERVIEW

DTS are seeking skilled Steel Fixers to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation and repair of iron and steel structures, ensuring that all work is completed safely and to the highest standards. This role requires physical strength, technical knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively on various construction projects.

SKILLS

  • Strong mechanical knowledge to understand the properties of metals and how they interact under different conditions.
  • Experience using hand tools such as wire cutters and snips, hammers, chisels, and wrenches as well as power tools like drills and saws.
  • Familiarity with carpentry skills for structural framing tasks.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely, adhering to proper lifting techniques.
  • Experience in masonry work is a plus for integrating ironwork with brick or stone structures.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5-year checkable work history
  • Clean DBS (criminal record check)
  • CSCS skilled worker card - Steel Fixer NVQ2 minimum
  • Ability to travel to Heathrow Airport by public or your own transport
  • Previous airport working experience advantageous but not essential

Responsibilities
  • Install and connect steel re-bar, and other structural components.
  • Secure re-bar connections, using steel tie wiring or metal couplers.
  • If trained, perform welding tasks to ensure secure connections between metal parts.
  • Use hand tools and power tools effectively for cutting, shaping, and assembling materials.
  • Conduct inspections of completed work to ensure compliance with safety regulations and project specifications.
  • Assist in heavy lifting and positioning of materials as required on-site.
  • Collaborate with other tradespeople, including carpenters and masons, to complete projects efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment by following health and safety guidelines.
