JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking an experienced Steel Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team in the aluminum and glass fabrication industry. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in designing, analyzing, and overseeing the construction of steel structures, particularly for projects involving aluminum and glass systems. This role requires a balance of technical proficiency and practical application, ensuring structural integrity and safety while collaborating with other teams to meet project requirements and deadlines.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on steel design and fabrication. Experience working with aluminum and glass systems is highly desirable.
- Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. Additional certifications related to structural engineering or fabrication are a plus.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in structural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SAP2000, ETABS, etc.)
- Knowledge of relevant codes (e.g., AISC, ASTM, Eurocodes) and standards.
- Strong understanding of structural materials, particularly steel, aluminum, and glass systems.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities:
- Design & Analysis: Create and optimize structural designs for steel frameworks that will support aluminum and glass installations. Ensure that designs comply with local codes, standards, and project specifications.
- Structural Calculations: Perform detailed structural calculations and analysis, including load calculations, stress analysis, and material selection, to ensure the safety and stability of steel structures.
- Collaboration with Other Departments: Work closely with architects, project managers, and the fabrication team to ensure seamless integration of steel structures with aluminum and glass components.
- Project Oversight: Oversee and provide technical support during the fabrication and construction phases of projects. Ensure quality control and that structures are fabricated and installed according to design specifications.
- Material Selection & Specifications: Choose appropriate steel materials and ensure they meet the required standards for the project. Ensure efficient use of materials to optimize costs and performance.
- Site Inspections: Conduct site visits to assess the progress of construction, ensuring the proper installation of steel, aluminum, and glass components. Address any issues or discrepancies promptly.
- Code Compliance & Safety: Stay updated with industry standards, building codes, and regulations related to steel structures, aluminum, and glass systems. Ensure that all designs meet regulatory requirements and are built to industry safety standards.
- Reporting & Documentation: Prepare technical documentation, including reports, drawings, and specifications. Maintain organized records for future reference and project tracking.
- Problem-Solving: Address and resolve any technical challenges that arise during the design, fabrication, or construction stages of projects.
