JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Steel Trader is a key member of our team for purchasing, responsible for building and managing purchases, negotiating contracts, and overseeing the trading of steel products in the Asia market. This role requires a deep understanding of the steel industry, market trends, and strong negotiation skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, or a related field. (Master’s degree or relevant certifications are a plus).
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in steel trading in the European market.
  • In-depth knowledge of the steel industry, including grades, specifications, and production processes.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, with proficiency in English (Spanish knowledge is a plus).
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Familiarity with INCOTERMS and international payment methods.
Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and customers, including steel mills, distributors, and end-users.
  • Identify and cultivate new business opportunities by proactively seeking out potential clients.
  • Stay updated on international and domestic steel market developments, including trade policies, tariffs, and emerging technologies.
  • Negotiate and finalize steel supply contracts, ensuring terms and conditions align with company objectives and market conditions.
  • Draft and review contracts, and facilitate the smooth execution of agreements.
  • Ensure all trading activities comply with relevant local and international regulations, including customs and trade laws.
  • Conduct in-depth market research to identify trends, demand patterns, and pricing dynamics in the steel industry.
  • Review and validate trade documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Attend steel trade conferences.
  • Fill out and confirm supplier accreditation forms.
