ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for a qualified teacher to lead our STEM outreach programmes, inspiring the next generation of engineers, giving children fun and engaging STEM experiences and young people high quality advice and guidance.
The Engineering Trust is a charity with a mission to champion engineering to young people, promote engineering as a career pathway and celebrate young people in engineering.
To meet our mission, we need a motivated person to lead our STEM outreach programmes and deliver meaningful activities to children from a variety of backgrounds.
Initially, the role will be based around developing STEM activities that can be taken into schools (primary & secondary), delivered in partnership with local engineering companies, bringing a real-world link to the sessions that are delivered. You will also get involved in careers fairs and talks, giving students in years 7 to 13 excellent STEM careers advice and guidance, particularly in terms of Apprenticeships as a routeway post 16 and post 18.
In the future, the role will also develop into leading our STEM Summer Courses programme so the successful candidate must be available during the school summer holidays to deliver this initiative – planned to run from Summer 2027.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement engaging STEM activities for both primary and secondary school students, ensuring content is age-appropriate and inspiring.
  • Coordinate and deliver in-school sessions in collaboration with local engineering companies to provide real-world context and relevance.
  • Attend and contribute to careers fairs and deliver talks to students in years 7 to 13, with a strong focus on promoting STEM careers and apprenticeship pathways post-16 and post-18.
  • Work with the Engineering Trust Coordinator to build and maintain relationships with schools, employers, and engineering professionals to enhance the quality and reach of our STEM programmes.
  • Take a leading role in the planning and delivery of our STEM Summer Courses programme, starting from Summer 2027.
  • Track the impact of outreach activities and provide regular feedback and reports to support continuous improvement.
