Description

Hyett Education are recruiting Computing/STEM workshop Instructors to support and lead a range predominantly computing and science workshops across the UK (predominantly England and Wales). We are a small team making a big impact and looking to extend our capacity and reach in schools. We will consider either a Trainee position (without QTS) or a QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) position.

JOB TITLE: TRAINEE STEM WORKSHOP INSTRUCTOR (WITHOUT QTS) OR STEM WORKSHOP INSTRUCTOR (WITH QTS)

We are looking for enthusiastic, outgoing individuals who are passionate about working to provide stimulating STEM educational experiences for children aged 5-14 years old.
The majority of work assigned will be within the successful candidate’s region but on occasion our candidates should be willing to travel and stay overnight for workshops more than a couple of hours away.
Staff will need their own car/van - all fuel, travel and meal expenses will be covered by Hyett Education. We may provide a company vehicle in certain circumstances. Our main office is in WV10 and the candidate will be expected to visit the main office for team training at least once per term.

Whilst in training, the successful candidate will predominantly:

  • Support more experienced members of staff in the preparation and delivery of various STEM workshops
  • Support the process of developing new resources or workshop ideas.
  • Undergo various training courses linked to providing services in schools, such as Paediatric First Aid and Safeguarding Training

A typical day would be 7.45am-3.30pm onsite with workshop hours between 9am-3.15pm with children. We expect staff to arrive onsite at 7.45am to setup, and typical pack down is 30-45 mins. There may be up to 2 hours travel each way, or the need to stay overnight near the workshop location.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK. We cannot offer visa sponsorship.
  • A clear Enhanced DBS. Applicants without a clear Enhanced DBS when checked will be rejected.
  • A valid UK driving license with access to your own vehicle, capable of carrying tech equipment to and from sessions. A company car may be provided in certain circumstances.
  • We expect all serious candidates to have researched the company to ensure they are a suitable fit for the work we do in schools.

DESIRABLE TRAINING, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Paediatric Emergency First Aid
  • Safeguarding/Child Protection
  • Qualified Teacher or Trainee Teacher/Teaching Assistant/HLTA/Childminder/Activity Instructor
  • Experience working with children
  • Training will be provided for these as part of successful candidates induction.
