JOB SUMMARY

The Sterile Processing (SP) Technician II independently provides knowledge and competence in a variety of sterile processing techniques and procedures. Responsible for supporting the operations of the Hospital’s Sterile Processing Department. Responsible for the decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and storage of level two and three complexity patient care instruments, equipment, and supplies. The technician performs complex tasks related to decontamination, the assembly of instruments, and sterilization and may also work in the sterile cores of the operating rooms. May serve as a preceptor for Sterile Processing students in training. Participates in departmental patient safety and performance improvement initiatives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Experience: One (1) year of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.
License/Certification:
