Description
Overview CVP is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Tech Lead to join our team in providing critical oversight and management support to our Nation's Veterans at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, TX. The Lead will oversee all Medical Supply Technician operations supporting minimally invasive surgical (MIS) procedures and reprocessing of MIS-related instrumentation for the Main Operating Room, Urology Clinic, ENT Clinic, Speech Pathology, Anesthesia, Cardiology Cath Lab, Pulmonary Bronch Lab, and the Sterile Processing Services Department. Responsibilities Serve as single point of contact for all Contractor/Government communications and technical direction Communicate directly with the COR and accept all correspondence on behalf of Contractor Manage daily sign-in/sign-out procedures and ensure personnel coverage across all shifts Oversee Medical Supply Technicians across all shifts and coordinate substitute coverage Train and keep personnel informed of all position requirements and duties Plan and schedule work requirements and training activities Submit monthly status reports to COR including workforce metrics, training certifications, and incident summaries Complete Level 1 VA SPS Certification within 90 days of hire Perform Quality Control Inspections for all shifts and maintain QC Program Submit final Quality Control Plan within 15 days after receiving COR comments Maintain liaison with COR and participate in departmental meetings and in-services Collaborate with MEDVAMC staff on training, competencies, and certificates Provide in-servicing on covered instrumentation and coordinate vendor training Make CEUs available for customer staff through own training program Support continuous quality improvement initiatives Ensure all personnel are proficient in computers, data entry, Microsoft Office, Vista, and applicable software Ensure personnel can support all instrument processes and functions Monitor equipment status, notify SPS of damage/low inventory, and assist in inventory maintenance Coordinate with MEDVAMC SPS and BioMed for equipment maintenance Provide expert video/equipment maintenance, setup, and rapid intra-operative technical support Support all MIS procedures and reprocessing of MIS-related instruments across MEDVAMC locations Ensure proper care, handling, transport, storage, and sterilization practices Provide 24/7 support with on-site presence during peak times and on-call coverage Leverage mobile technology for room setup management Maintain all administrative support including personnel files, reports, inventory tracking, and Government property records Qualifications Must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust government security clearance (US Citizenship is required) Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience required Extensive experience in all aspects as a Medical Supply Technician (Sterile Processing Services) Ability to effectively communicate with, supervise, and manage Medical Supply Technicians and all aspects of contract requirements Demonstrated capability to maintain an efficient workforce while supporting MEDVAMC Medical Supply Technician requirements Articulate with excellent interpersonal skills Strong knowledge of medical terminology, surgical procedures, and the reprocessing of Reusable Medical Equipment (RME) Proven access to applicable original equipment manufacturers (OEM) parts and manuals, which must be available on-site Proficiency in spoken and written English without the use of an interpreter Must successfully complete the Level 1 VA SPS Certification within the first 90 days of hire date Must receive in-service training from all applicable MIS vendors on proper care and handling, reprocessing and preventative maintenance per IFU Health Care Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) Certification preferred Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CPSPD) preferred High School diploma or equivalent preferred Current Tuberculosis (TB) testing required Physically capable of standing for long periods of extended time, lifting and/or transferring up to 25 lbs, and exposure to chemicals used in cleaning and sterilization work areas Must maintain 24/7 availability to COR via cell phone Shift Requirements: This position requires oversight of operations Sunday through Saturday across all tour of duty hours, which include: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM (Midnight) 12:00 AM (Midnight) to 8:00 AM The Project Manager will work variable hours to ensure proper contract execution and must be available 24/7 via telephone communication to respond to emergencies or critical situations. The Project Manager will respond to COR within 30 minutes to confirm calls. Location: Michael E.
