Townsen Surgery Center - East Dallas is looking for a Sterile Processing Technician to join our team in Mesquite, Texas!   The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for ensuring sterile and functioning supply of materials and equipment according to established standards and procedures. The Sterile Processing Technician will collect, clean, decontaminate, disinfect and/or sterilize surgical instruments, trays and packs, reusable medical devices and patient care equipment utilizing microbiology and infection control standards. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Operates sterile processing equipment (washers, steam, gas, ultrasonic and chemical sterilizers) • Documents and maintains accurate sterilization records • Inspects, assembles and test general and specialty instrumentation for proper functioning • Performs simple maintenance on equipment (i.e.: clean filters and drains) • Prepares trays for designated areas according to policies and procedures • Ensures count sheets are correct and updated as necessary • Prepares and pulls instruments for cases and assist with OR room readiness • Selects the appropriate method of sterilization for particular equipment or supplies • Stocks, manages and documents inventory appropriately to avoid shortages of supplies and materials • Maintains strict confidentiality of client information • Complies with Infection Control, Standard Precautions and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional • Performs other related duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: • Ability to read, communicate effectively and understand medical/surgical terminology • Knowledge of reusable surgical instrumentation, micro surgical instrumentation, and power equipment • Knowledge of sterile processing equipment (washers, steam, gas, ultrasonic and chemical sterilizers) • Knowledge of cleaning of patient care equipment including but not limited to IV pumps, PCAs, CPM machines, Pneumatic pumps, hypo/hyperthermia units • Knowledge of different types of sterilization materials, surgical instrumentation supplies and equipment • Knowledge of Infection Control and proper equipment for accurate usage when pulling instrument for cases • Demonstrates knowledge and compliance with HIPAA regulations and state requirements • Ability to work effectively within role independently and with other team members • Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • High School diploma or GED • One (1) year of current experience in a healthcare setting with sterile processing • Basic Life Support (BLS) certified or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of hire.   Townsen Surgery Center - East Dallas is an ambulatory surgery center specializing in providing high quality and safe patient care.
