UnaSource Surgery Center in Troy, MI is currently hiring a fulltime Sterile Processing Technician to join our Center.  About the Role: The Sterile Processing Technician plays a critical role in our outpatient setting by ensuring that all surgical instruments and medical equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and prepared for use in patient care. This position is essential to maintaining a safe and sterile environment, preventing infections, and supporting successful surgical outcomes. The technician meticulously inspects, assembles, and sterilizes instruments according to established protocols and regulatory standards. They collaborate closely with surgical teams and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely availability of sterile supplies. Ultimately, this role contributes directly to patient safety and the overall efficiency of healthcare delivery. Minimum Qualifications: * High school diploma or equivalent. * Current C.R.C.S.T. (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) * Knowledge of sterilization techniques and infection control standards. * Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain meticulous records. * Physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle instruments safely. Preferred Qualifications: * Certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or equivalent. * Experience working in a surgical center sterile processing department. * Strong understanding of healthcare regulations and accreditation standards. * Additional training in advanced sterilization technologies or quality assurance. * Ability to work in fast-paced environment. Responsibilities: * Receive, clean, and decontaminate surgical instruments and medical equipment following strict infection control guidelines. * Inspect instruments for damage or wear and ensure proper assembly of instrument sets. * Operate sterilization equipment such as autoclaves and chemical sterilizers, monitoring cycles to ensure effectiveness. * Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and inventory of sterile supplies. * Collaborate with surgical and nursing staff to fulfill instrument requests and respond promptly to urgent needs. * Adhere to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements related to sterile processing and infection control. * Participate in ongoing training to maintain high standards of practice. * Maintains safe work environment (handling sharps, needles, blades, etc.) and practices following Standard Precautions. Skills: The Sterile Processing Technician utilizes attention to detail and organizational skills daily to ensure instruments are thoroughly cleaned and correctly assembled, which is vital for patient safety. Technical skills are applied when operating sterilization equipment and monitoring sterilization cycles to guarantee compliance with health standards. Communication skills are essential for coordinating with surgical teams and responding to urgent instrument needs efficiently. Problem-solving abilities help identify and address issues such as equipment malfunctions or discrepancies in instrument sets.
