POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction and supervision of the RDA Supervisor and licensed Dentists, the Sterile Technician is responsible for the cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and organization of dental instruments, equipment, and operatories. This position ensures all sterilization and infection control procedures meet federal, state, and clinic regulatory standards to maintain a safe and efficient clinical environment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, packaging, sterilizing, and storing dental instruments and equipment according to established infection control protocols. 2. Operate and maintain sterilization equipment including autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and instrument washers. 3. Monitor sterilization processes including biological, chemical, and mechanical indicators to ensure proper sterilization standards are met. 4. Maintain accurate sterilization logs and documentation in accordance with clinic policy and regulatory requirements. 5. Prepare, organize, and distribute sterile instrument trays and procedure setups for dental providers. 6. Maintain inventory of sterilization supplies, instruments, and materials; notify supervisor when supplies reach reorder levels. 7. Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of sterilization areas, operatories, and dental storage areas. 8. Follow all infection control and safety procedures including OSHA, CDC, and clinic policies. 9. Always maintain a courteous and professional demeanor. 10. Participate in continuing education and training related to infection control and sterilization procedures. 11. Other duties as may be assigned. 12. Maintain confidentiality in all matters. 13. At the time of hire, each employee will meet with their supervisor to set measurable goals and objectives that are a requirement for the position. These measurables will be monitored by the supervisor and reviewed during the introductory period. They will also be utilized in the annual performance evaluation. The measurables may change from year to year. The supervisor is responsible to notify the employee of any new measurables at the time of the performance review. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Attendance at staff trainings and meetings is required. 2. Back up other positions in the department as needed. 3. Learn and implement electronic health records functions as they continue to evolve. 4. Assist with a variety of duties to meet the needs of the department on an as-needed basis. 5. Assist dental staff with operatory turnover and preparation between patients when necessary.
