Your role at St John of God Geraldton Hospital Geraldton Hospital now has a casual position available for an experienced Sterilisation Assistant to join their multidisciplinary team. As a Sterilisation Assistant you will assist in the effective processing and supply of all instruments and items supplied and all other relevant activities. The Position Management of cleaning, drying, packing and sterilising equipment. Maintain safe practise in accordance with Universal precautions policy whilst processing contaminated items. Ensure appropriate utilisation of chemicals in accordance with manufacturers guidelines. Utilise instrument and equipment washers appropriately. Utilise electronic instrument tracking system effectively. Maintain environmental cleanliness. Maintain correct documentation. Perform steriliser and disinfector tests and maintain records of same as per AS4187. Maintain effective work practise in regard to hand and machine washing, lubrication, drying, packaging and sterilising. Maintain appropriate and effective assembly and packing of instruments, trays, packs and items for reprocessing. Maintain appropriate workflow for processing of items. Maintain sterile stock levels as required. You will hold effective interpersonal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment. You will have excellent time management and organisational skills, with commitment to customer service. To succeed you will have an understanding of and ability to apply occupational health and safety principles to ensure own safety and that of others in the workplace. Possession of an approved Certificate in Sterilisation Technology, working towards or willingness to obtain will be highly regarded.
