THE OPPORTUNITY:

We are currently looking to hire a sterilization technician/admin assistant to join our well-established dental practice in the beautiful town of Westlock. We strive to provide quality dental care in a cheerful friendly environment. The office is open from 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m on weekdays. and is closed on weekends and statutory holidays. This is a permanent full-time (32 hours a week) position. The successful candidate will have a passion to learn quickly and build strong relationships with patients and staff.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Responsibilities
  • Preparing dental instruments: preparing dental instruments for use in dental procedures. This involves cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing dental instruments and equipment using appropriate methods and techniques.
  • Maintaining and operating sterilization equipment: Ensuring that all sterilization equipment is properly maintained and operated according to manufacturer guidelines. This includes cleaning and maintaining autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and other equipment used in the sterilization process.
  • Maintaining sterilization records: Keeping accurate records of all sterilization processes, including the date, time, and method of sterilization for each instrument or piece of equipment. This information is necessary for maintaining compliance with industry regulations and for ensuring patient safety.
  • Monitoring inventory and ordering supplies: Monitoring inventory levels of sterilization supplies and order new supplies as needed. This includes items such as sterilization pouches, disinfectants, and other cleaning agents.
  • Adhering to safety protocols: Following all safety protocols and guidelines for handling and disposing of contaminated materials, chemicals, and equipment. This includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, masks, and gowns.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized workspace: Being responsible for maintaining a clean and organized workspace, including the sterilization area and storage areas for equipment and supplies
  • Preparing the treatment rooms: Being responsible for preparing the treatment room before the dentist arrives. This includes disinfecting and arranging the instruments and materials needed for the procedure.
  • Assisting the dentist during dental procedures: working alongside the dentist when providing dental treatment
  • Admin duties: answering phone calls, booking appointments, taking payments, and processing insurance claims.
