Prior local and state government years of service count toward calculating vacation accrual rate!  The Sterilization Technician supports the dental team and contributes to high-quality patient care in a community-focused setting by maintaining a safe and clean environment for patients and staff by sterilizing and disinfecting dental instruments and equipment as well as ensuring clinical areas meet infection control standards. The Technician will provide direct support to the clinical staff in a public health setting.  Primary Responsibilities: * Operate and maintain sterilization equipment, including autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and instrument washers  * Disinfect and sterilize instruments, surfaces, and equipment in compliance with CDC, OSHA, and agency guidelines  * Maintain instruments and equipment within operatories and report any shortage of supplies, malfunction or safety concerns  * Accurate and efficient patient record keeping  * Perform Dental Assistant I procedures as appropriate to clinical protocol and according to regulations of the NC Board of Dentistry  Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a dental assisting program or dental experience required.  Fluency in Spanish and English preferred.  License: Current CPR certification. NC Dental Radiology certification preferred. NC S.P.I.C.E certification preferred.  Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:  * Knowledge of dental specific CDC and OSHA guidelines  * Must have basic computer word processing skills  Our Mission To improve individual and community health through services, education, and collaborative action.
