At a glance:Scripps College is growing its Advancement team! As the College prepares for its Centennial in 2026 and a historic $100M campaign, they’re launching two key roles that will shape donor engagement and philanthropy during this milestone moment:
Stewardship Manager – Lead donor recognition and engagement strategies, oversee giving society programs, and create compelling communications and reports that connect donors to the impact of their philanthropy.
Gift Planning Officer – Serve as a frontline fundraiser, cultivating and stewarding legacy gifts (bequests, trusts, retirement/IRA gifts, insurance), and building relationships with donors that secure the College’s philanthropic vision.

Responsibilities
  • Manage recognition and strategy for Campaign gifts.
  • Oversee strategy and execution of programs for College giving societies.
  • Develop and implement strategies for donor recognition and stewardship programming, exercising discretion and independent judgment in determining enhancements that improve donor engagement and retention.
  • Identify and recommend programming and recognition for volunteers.
  • Establish and oversee processes and policies around naming opportunities, applying discretion in evaluating requests and ensuring alignment with institutional standards.
  • Develop and manage customized annual reports on endowed funds to provide donors with financial information and use of their fund.
  • Direct the development of stewardship communications, determining content, format, and strategy to best demonstrate the impact of philanthropy.
  • Oversee the collection and analysis of donor-related data, and design stewardship dashboards and reports to inform leadership decision-making and measure program effectiveness.
  • Develop reports and metrics to track effectiveness of recognition and naming opportunities strategies.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to the Director of Donor Relations, advising on stewardship best practices, donor communications, and recognition opportunities to support long-term fundraising goals.
  • Active support for the College’s Principles of Community and Principles of Diversity in the performance of job duties.
