Job Title: Stock Controller
Location: Dukeshill Ham Company, Telford
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
About Us
Dukeshill Ham Company is a renowned supplier of premium artisan meats and fine foods. We’re committed to outstanding product quality, service, and operational excellence. To support growth and seasonal peaks, we’re hiring an experienced Stock Controller to own inventory accuracy and availability across the business.
The Role
Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, you will be the first point of contact for all stock accuracy and replenishment activity. You’ll maintain optimal stock levels, lead cycle counts and investigations, and ensure end-to-end traceability (batch/lot & shelf life) suitable for a food environment. You’ll work closely with Purchasing, Warehouse, Production and Customer Service to deliver high availability with minimal waste.
Key Responsibilities
· Own day-to-day stock control across all sites and storage locations (raw materials, packaging, WIP and finished goods).
· Maintain ERP/WMS item records (SKUs, units, BOM links), process stock adjustments, transfers and write-offs with full audit trail.
· Plan and place replenishment orders to agreed targets (MOQ, lead time, safety stock), supporting seasonal and promotional demand.
· Lead daily/weekly cycle counts and quarterly/annual stock takes; analyse variances, complete root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
· Manage batch/lot traceability, FEFO/FIFO and shelf-life controls; quarantine/hold stock as required and coordinate rework or disposal.
· Reconcile inbound deliveries against POs; resolve shortages, damages and pricing discrepancies with suppliers (credit notes where required).
· Produce clear stock reports and KPIs (accuracy %, availability, days of cover, stock turns, slow/non-moving, write-offs, waste/shrink).
· Partner with Production & Warehouse to optimise put-away, picking, and stock rotation; support layout and process improvements (5S/Lean).
· Support new product set-ups and delist processes; ensure data integrity throughout.
· Prepare the operation for peak periods through forward-cover planning and space/capacity checks.
· Champion continuous improvement and compliance with food safety standards (e.g., HACCP/BRCGS) in relation to stock handling.
About You
· Proven experience in stock control/inventory management, ideally in food, FMCG, e-commerce, or manufacturing.
· Strong numeracy and analytical skills; advanced Excel and confident with ERP/WMS (e.g., Sage, NetSuite, Dynamics, Unleashed—any system considered).
· Excellent attention to detail with a disciplined approach to data integrity and audit trails.
· Clear communicator who collaborates effectively with suppliers and internal teams.
· Organised and calm under pressure; able to prioritise and meet deadlines, especially during seasonal peaks.
· Knowledge of inventory best practice (ABC, cycle counting, FEFO/FIFO, safety stock).
· Desirable: experience with BI/reporting tools (Power BI/SQL), Lean/CI exposure, and understanding of BOMs and production environments.
Why Join Us?
· Opportunity to shape stock control in a premium, growing food business.
· Supportive, hands-on team culture.
· Competitive salary and benefits.
· Training and development tailored to your growth.
