Role: Stock Controller
Type: Permanent
Location: Newport (NP19)
Hours: 40 hours per week, worked between Monday & Friday, shifts on a rota basis between 6am & 6pm.
Overtime: You will be required to support Saturday and bank holiday shifts to meet the needs of the business (rota basis).
Genpower Ltd is the exclusive distributor for Hyundai Power Products in the UK & Ireland and a global distributor for JCB Power Products. With four UK-based locations, including a state-of-the-art 100,000 sq ft facility in Newport, we manage a 16,000 pallet capacity and advanced warehouse systems. Our Newport site features automated stock checks, drone technology, a 3PL facility, a customer portal, live pick-pack and ship status updates with a next day delivery service for items under 70kg.
We’re currently looking for a Stock Controller to join our team. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, detail-oriented and confident in stock control processes. Strong communication skills, a proactive approach to prioritising tasks and experience in inventory management within a fast-paced environment are essential.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Experience in stock control or a similar inventory management role
  • Holds a forklift and/or VNA license (or willingness to be trained on these)
  • Strong understanding of inventory systems and best practices
  • Proficient with inventory software and ERP/WMS systems
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Organised with effective time management abilities
  • Strong communicator and team player
  • Able to work independently and use initiative in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities
  • Ensure stock accuracy through regular checks and inventory management
  • Assist with physical inventory and periodic stock takes
  • Coordinate and utilise automated/computerised systems (ERP, warehouse management)
  • Resolve stock discrepancies and continuously improve stock processes
  • Oversee stock storage, including tagging, boxing, and labelling
  • Manage internal stock movements (goods in, racking and floor putaway, picking and delivery)
  • Support goods in and goods out operations
  • Perform inventory analysis and reporting
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment
  • Identify slow-moving and aged stock
  • Attend End of Year Stock Count and assist with audits
  • Keep accurate records of stock movements (receipts, shipments, returns)
  • Implement improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulations
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies, implementing corrective actions
  • Complete and file stock control documentation accurately
  • Perform additional warehouse duties as needed (e.g., during busy periods, cover for holidays, sickness)
