Description Purpose To provide exceptional customer service by accurately ordering to replenish products. Help to maintain a well-stocked, clean, organized, successful department. Responsibilities I. General Follow the Core Values as defined by EEFC's Core Value statement. Provide exemplary customer service to both customers and staff. Accurately communicate what the Co-op is and the process for becoming a member. Familiarity with store layout, products, and services. Familiarity and understanding of emergency procedures. Stay up to date with current storewide and departmental communications, policies, notices, and logs. Abide by Co-op policies as delineated in the Employee Handbook. Willingness and ability to learn to meet the changing needs and requirements of the job. II. Departmental - Ordering Place departmental orders by appropriate deadlines. Optimize stock levels by minimizing out-of-stocks while maintaining strong inventory turns. Ensure appropriate supply of promotional and seasonal items. Work with supervisor to continually improve ordering skills and troubleshooting techniques. Work with department Coordinator to order new items, seasonal products, and discontinue outgoing products. Provide frequent feedback to Coordinator on customer requests, product issues and all other relevant department information. Obtain credit from vendors as assigned. Help manage occurrences of damages, shorts, expired products, inaccurate deliveries and returns. Review invoices for accuracy before submitting to finance department. III. Departmental - Maintenance Help maintain attractive, fully-stocked, fronted and rotated department sections. Help maintain a clean department on a daily and long term basis. Stock products as assigned. Follow procedures for safe and accurate stocking. Help maintain neat, organized and rotated backstock at the appropriate level. Communicate with finance department about credit or invoice issues. Keep accurate records of shrink and calculate shrink extensions as assigned. Participate in quarterly inventory counts and calculate inventory extensions as assigned. Perform back-up receiving duties as assigned by Stockroom Supervisor and/or in absence of Stockroom Supervisor. Provide feedback in setting yearly sales, margin, and inventory turns goals. Perform other tasks assigned. Requirements Required Skills and Qualifications: 1 year of stocking experience. General mobility requirements include the ability to: stand or sit for several hours at a time; lift up to 50 lbs. alone on a regular basis and 75 lbs. with assistance using safe lifting techniques; twist, turn, squat, and bend; do repetitive motions; visually read fine print; visually read a computer screen for long periods of time; climb a ladder. The ability to handle and touch all different kinds of food. The ability to work in a fast paced environment which may include exposure to wet, humid, cold, or outdoor weather conditions. Moderate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and internet research skills. Able to produce quality work within the established deadlines. Retail or other experience serving the public. Having experience and thorough knowledge of natural foods. Familiarity with organic and non-GMO products. Must enjoy interacting with and serving the public. Must have a friendly and outgoing personality and a positive attitude. Ability to handle multiple demands and stay calm. Accuracy and attention to detail. Organized and methodical in action.
