JOB DESCRIPTION

As a company we specialise in restoring, maintaining and polishing natural stone surfaces. We work primarily for private clients in a luxury and high end residential setting. Using specialist grinding and polishing machinery, the team transform stone in situ. As Stone Restoration Assistant, you will support in all aspects of stone restoration.
This is an exciting opportunity to join an established Company who are leaders in the industry for stone restoration.
The aim of the role is to upskill you in the techniques required to restore natural stone in order that you can lead on sites as a Technician. Whilst training on the equipment to learn how to carry out the work, you will also shadow the Managing Director to gain an understanding of the methods. This is proposed as a 6 month fast-track position, with a view to being promoted to the position of Stone Restoration Technician in 6 months.
Upon successful completion of the Trainee role, you will be expected to be able to lead a team (usually a Technician and a Stone Care Assistant) to carry out stone restoration independently. This will include travel to site, set up of site, carrying out prescribed stone restoration, manipulation of methods and decision making on techniques required for the best results for the client and reporting back to the Directors on the success of the job

3. PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • We are looking for someone who is committed both to their day-to-day work and looking for a long-term/ permanent role.
  • Previous experience of working with natural stone is desired but not essential.
  • Familiarity with working in both private homes and construction sites is beneficial.
  • Previous roles should include trade-based site or people management roles

Responsibilities

Carry out stone restoration, cleaning and polishing work on natural stone surfaces.

  • This will include but is not limited to:
  • Application of cleaning chemicals to floor, walls and worktops
  • Use of rotary machine to grind, polish and buff the above stone surfaces.
  • Use of hand grinder to grind, polish and buff the above stone surfaces.
  • Use of table-top rotary machine to resurface and polish worktops.
  • Use of wet vacuum to remove excess water from floors and patios.
  • Correct application of sealants and impregnators where required.

Provide an efficient and professional service to Athena Stonecare Clients

  • Load and unload the van on site using the proper set up procedures and ensuring that all items are accounted for before leaving a job site.
  • Productively and safely move furniture to prepare the client’s home or business space.
  • Liaising with clients on site, always upholding the Athena Stonecare code of conduct.
  • Leaving all clients with the appropriate information for the aftercare of their floor using packs provided.
  • Ensuring that all work is carried out in a way that is respectful and courteous to the clients’ home or business
  • Uphold the company health and safety policy and attend Toolbox Talks on a regular basis as well as undertaking all health and safety training as assigned.
  • Work at all times within company guidelines, following method statements as required.
  • Using Simpro to record jobs and quotes as well as capturing photographs on site for use in social media and marketing.

Preparation for transition to Stone Restoration Technician role:

  • To undertake the necessary training to ensure full understanding of the processes required to carry out stone polishing, restoration, and cleaning.
  • Carrying out work independently when required including setting up and closing down job sites, as well as travelling to and from site (using Company Vehicle)
  • Reporting on all jobs completed during the week including the methods, client relationships and any other information that is relevant.
  • Ensuring that the van is kept stocked with the correct equipment and consumables and reporting to Managing Director with any required stock.
  • Directing the Stone Care Assistant when on site.
  • Pack the van with all equipment and products required for specific jobs.
