SUMMARY:

The Assistant Manager will have a large share of responsibility for the day-to-day operations and performance of one of our fast-paced Body Energy Club locations. The Assistant Manager is expected to uphold Body Energy Club’s standards, policies, and procedures while providing exceptional customer service and maintaining an organized food-safe environment. In addition, this role is responsible for supporting staff training and development, maintaining store inventory, and driving sales daily.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Flexible schedule availability is required for all applicants during business operations for 7 days a week from 7:00am – 11:00pm
  • Full-time hours for Assistant Managers can work 40-45 hours a week
  • Willing to work evenings and weekends and lead by example to support team members
  • Maintain constant punctual attendance and contribute to positive team morale
  • Must be able to come in under short notice (i.e. on-call situations)

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • FoodSafe Certification is mandatory and up-to-date

EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ years of experience in the health supplement industry is an asset
  • 2+ years of experience in customer service or food service industry
  • 1+ year of supervisory experience in a retail management environment is preferred
  • OR retail experience at Body Energy Club with a demonstration of job excellence and a strong understanding of company policies and procedures. Manager will evaluate fit for open opportunities

Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Uphold our commitment to deliver an exceptional customer service experience to every visitor, ensuring their needs are met promptly and professionally.
  • Sales and Profitability: Collaborate with the store team to drive sales and profitability by setting and achieving targets and implementing promotions that resonate with our customer base.
  • Cost Control: Work closely with management on cost-saving initiatives, contributing to the efficient management of store expenses.
  • Inventory Management: Efficiently track and monitor inventory, proactively address store shrinkage issues, and receive product deliveries, ensuring timely and accurate stock placement.
  • Staff Oversight: Monitor staff behavior and operations, providing constructive feedback to the Store Manager and being involved in investigations as needed. Drive team performance through engagement initiatives.
  • Food Safety and Sanitation: Maintain a food-safe and sanitary environment, consistently adhering to best practices and regulatory requirements.Additional Responsibilities:
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Monitor and communicate daily food/product sales, and competitive trends, and encourage customer engagement, particularly during promotions or slow sales periods. Implement rainy-day checklists as needed.
  • Store Checklist Review (Daily): Ensure all open, mid, or closing checklists are diligently completed. Stay updated on merchandising checklists, music streaming preferences, and zone assignments. Maintain a communication binder and follow up on staff signatures.
  • Inventory Management: Review and assist with open transfers and purchase orders, track vendor/category counts, and audit price changes. Ensure prompt receipt and storage of all orders, particularly refrigerated items. Ensure proper facing and organization of ready-to-drink (RTD) and impulse SKUs.
  • Inventory Oversight: Monitor and manage inventory levels, flag low stock, manage overstock, and handle expired items. Process returns in the system and return items to shelves when possible. Manage customer holds, and conduct weekly inventory counts, ensuring a minimum of 5 vendors are counted each week. Complete quarterly inventory counts.
  • Inventory Reporting: Provide reports on inventory errors to the Store Manager and communicate with vendors regarding discrepancies or late purchase orders. Identify, resolve, and report inventory issues to the Store Manager and provide feedback on inventory management performance at each location.
  • Transfer Audits: Audit transfers in/out and complete follow-ups as required, ensuring transfers are not older than 4 days. Review assigned transfers to be completed.
  • Purchase Orders: Frequently audit purchase orders (POs) and provide updates to the managers. Audit open POs and follow up with suppliers that are overdue by 5 days from the order date.
  • Vendor Orders: Manage relationships with various vendors
  • Merchandising: Take responsibility for the overall merchandising of the store, including delegation of merchandising responsibilities within the team. Merchandise and restock shelves, ensuring a clear and tidy sales floor at the beginning and end of each shift.Ensure merchandising standards are met.
  • Smoothie Bar Support: Offer assistance to the smoothie bar team as needed, ensuring that items used are correctly processed and barcodes are removed.
  • Training: Provide support to new hires and conduct refreshment training sessions as needed for all staff.
  • Acting Manager: In the absence of the Store Manager, assume the role of Acting Manager, taking on full responsibility for store operations, staff supervision, and decision-making, store appearance, and food safety to ensure the smooth continuation of daily activities and uphold our standards of excellence.
