Located in the downtown east end of Toronto, we work to provide a dignified and enjoyable shopping experience to a diverse group of customers.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Double Take is seeking a Part Time Store Associate to provide excellent customer service on the sales floor, operate the cash register and assist in the general operations of the store between 9:30am-8:30pm. If you have a passion for community work and want to be a part of lowering textile waste in the fashion industry, this may be for you!

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will have the following skills and training:

  • Excellent communication and active listening skills
  • Superior customer service skills, focused on patience and empathy
  • Strong interest in serving community
  • Ability to understand and follow written or verbal instructions
  • Excellent organizational & problem solving skills
  • Ability to work in a Team environment with cooperative principles
  • Capable of working independently with enthusiasm & initiative
  • Good command of the English language
  • Current on merchandise knowledge, industry trends and competitive pricing
  • The ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. to lift and move boxes and bags of donations
  • Demonstrated commitment to YSM’s/Double Take’s mission and values
  • Computer experience as asset, particularly with Microsoft Word and Google Docs
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends; a police check will be required

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Greeting customers, offering assistance and keeping the store neat and tidy
  • Operating the cash register with proper cash handling practices
  • Assisting in receiving donations with excellent customer service
  • Working with volunteers to ensure a smooth production flow
  • Tidying and cleaning
  • Sorting donations as needed
  • Assisting with Online activities such as order fulfillment and preparations for posting
  • Answering phone and responding to questions regarding the store and donations, passing messages on to the supervisor if there is a need for a call-back
  • Giving a positive and professional image to the public, co-workers, and partners
  • Placing clothing on hangers and items on racks in the appropriate area
  • De-escalating difficult situations with community members with empathy and through a trauma-informed lens
  • Conducting work activities safely and securely by following our Health and Safety and Loss Prevention policies
  • Additional duties as required ensuring the effective function of Operations
