One that not only celebrated coffee and the rich tradition, but that also brought a feeling of connection. We are known for developing extraordinary leaders who share this passion and are guided by their service to others. As a Coffeehouse Design Principal, Global Concepts, you will lead the creation and execution of design strategies that define Starbucks' physical and aspirational experience globally, with a strong focus on North America (including Licensed Stores and Canada Company-Owned). In this role, you will drive the conceptualization and delivery of innovative environment designs that align with brand standards while evolving our portfolio and supporting new store formats. You will oversee the development and sustainment of standards across interiors and exteriors—collaborating closely with the catalog team to ensure furniture, finishes, fixtures, lighting, and acoustics work cohesively and complement the brand. Additionally, you will contribute to testing and refining design innovations that advance both brand expression and operational goals. This influential role sits at the heart of a design-driven organization committed to creating spaces that foster meaningful connections between partners and customers. As a Design Principal, you will Lead and elevate global experience design, developing strategies and tactics that uphold Starbucks' brand vision while seamlessly integrating furniture, finishes, and fixtures into environment solutions. Shape and guide scalable programs and environments—deliver innovative design solutions across North America, ensuring alignment with cross-functional teams and regional leaders. Foster collaboration and inspire excellence—partner across disciplines to drive business-aligned design solutions, while cultivating a strong, creative culture through coaching and thought leadership. We'd love to hear from people with: 8+ years of design experience in retail, hospitality, or restaurant environments, with a proven track record of leading impactful programs and projects. Bachelor's degree or higher in Architecture, Interior Design, Experience Design, or Industrial Design. Expertise in holistic design and systems thinking, with the ability to manage ambiguity, prioritize deliverables, and drive outcomes collaboratively. Strong communication and cross-functional leadership skills, fostering alignment across diverse teams and stakeholders. Current knowledge of industry trends in retail and hospitality design, plus familiarity with building codes, accessibility, and compliance. Advanced proficiency in Revit or AutoCAD, and strong skills in SketchUp and 3D visualization. As a Starbucks partner, you (and your family) will have access to medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, and other voluntary insurance benefits. Partners have access to short-term and long-term disability, paid parental leave, family expansion reimbursement, paid vacation from date of hire*, sick time (accrued at 1 hour for every 25 hours worked), eight paid holidays, and two personal days per year.
