As a Store Concepts Design Principle: Architectural Standards, you will shape the future of our Coffeehouses by leading the evolution of our standards—including architectural systems, casework, millwork, lighting, fixtures, and furniture. You will work independently and collaboratively across design team as well as collaborating with cross functional teams and consultants. As a Concept Design Principal: Architectural Standards, you will Synthesize cross-functional knowledge of the Starbucks enterprise to establish relevant and scalable design solutions and standards: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain design intent while delivering cost-optimized solutions. Optimize Existing Architectural Standards: Continuously audit and refine Coffeehouse standards on a defined cadence to ensure relevance and efficiency. Manage outside consultants and vendors: Create statement of work, timelines, and manage internal and external cross-functional teams. Communicate Standards: Lead presentations, training and share-outs of architectural standards to internal design and construction teams. Advise on Starbucks specific and architectural code compliance: Serve as an SME for integration of innovation and design aspects as a whole system. Collaborate for Continuous Improvement: Work closely with internal teams—including Concept Designers, Architects, Interior Designers, and BIM Systems Leads—to identify opportunities for process and cost efficiencies. Operationalize insight from research and trends: Bring deep industry knowledge, cultural insights, and continuing education into standards and concept work—translating research and emerging trends into practical toolkits and guidelines. Program and portfolio planning: Prioritize and plan programs and projects to deliver measurable brand and business value, balancing roadmaps, resourcing, milestones, and dependencies. We'd love to hear from people with: 8+ years of experience in design and architecture, including concept development and high-quality design for projects of varying size and complexity. Proven ability to lead architectural standards strategy and development in retail, hospitality, or restaurant environments, or at a design/architecture firm. Strong knowledge of architectural details, specifications, and construction documentation. Proficiency in Revit and SketchUp for 3D modeling and architectural drawings; familiarity with Rhino is a plus. Ability to communicate design ideas through hand sketches, drawings, and compelling visual presentations. Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders in dynamic settings and managing multiple projects under tight deadlines. Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills. Education: Bachelor's degree in architecture, interior design, or a related field from an accredited institution.
