Role Summary: We’re are growing in the Nanaimo, BC area and are seeking positive leader to serve our community! This is an excellent opportunity for someone who’d like to join a company on the rise. This role requires standing, counting and ordering inventory, lifting 20-30 lbs cases of alcohol & convenience items, interacting with customers, working with our POS system, and managing co-workers. Retail store management experience is required; if you have a great attitude and welcome new challenges, then we’d love to welcome you to the General Stores & Markets Team!

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have excellent communication skills - you will be required to interact with clients in a professional and engaging manner
  • Must be able to lift 30lbs
  • Available to work on evenings and weekends
  • The ideal candidate has 2+ years in a retail store management position
  • Must be able to legally work in Canada
    Hours: Full-time (40+ hours/week)

Responsibilities
  • Management - oversee day-to-day operations, ensure co-workers have the tools to succeed, help train new hires, and prepare financial, operational, and reports
  • Maintaining staff levels by recruiting, hiring, training, motivating, developing and encouraging, individuals to become members of the team, ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Conducting store meetings as needed with employees.
  • Implementing and enforcing established daily operating procedures to ensure store is clean, adequately stocked, organized, and well kept.
  • Monitoring cash over/short, inventory shrinkage, and daily loss.
  • Enforcing all Safety and Security Issues and reporting any and all unsafe conditions.
  • Conducting regular Health & Safety meetings and documenting which employees attend.
  • Sales - assisting customers; answering their questions and making knowledgeable recommendations
  • Delegating duties and tasks to assistant manager, supervisor and clerks, to meet objectives and maximize resources
  • Communicating company policy, standards and procedures to staff
  • Resolve customer complaints, in a timely and professional manner notifying upper management when necessary.
  • Cashier work - checking out customers using a POS system
  • Inventory - ordering inventory, counting inventory, moving inventory, unpacking boxes, and stocking shelves
  • Evaluating inventory levels, and conducting cycle counts
  • Other duties as directed by General Manager and District Manager
