Position Overview

  • The Store Manager is responsible for the overall management and performance of the store, ensuring that daily operations, sales activities, customer service, inventory, merchandising, staffing, and administrative functions are executed efficiently and in accordance with company standards.The role provides leadership to the store team, drives sales and profitability, maintains a high-quality customer experience, and ensures the store is presented and operated professionally at all times. The Store Manager works closely with regional management, operations, merchandising, warehouse, finance, HR, marketing, and other departments to achieve business objectives, maintain operational standards, and continuously improve store performance.Key ResponsibilitiesTake overall responsibility for the daily operation, commercial performance, and customer experience of the store.
  • Develop and execute action plans to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
  • Monitor store KPIs including sales revenue, conversion rate, average transaction value, units per transaction, customer traffic, and productivity.
  • Analyse sales reports, customer trends, product performance, and operational data to identify opportunities and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead, motivate, coach, and develop store employees to achieve individual and team performance objectives.
  • Prepare staff schedules, rosters, leave arrangements, and manpower plans to ensure adequate coverage during normal and peak trading periods.
  • Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, grooming, discipline, productivity, and compliance with company standards.
  • Conduct daily briefings and communicate sales targets, promotional campaigns, operational priorities, product information, and company updates.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to improve selling techniques, product knowledge, customer engagement, and service quality.
  • Support recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, and development of store employees.
  • Build a positive, accountable, and high-performance team culture.
  • Ensure customers receive professional, efficient, and personalized service throughout their shopping experience.
  • Handle customer enquiries, complaints, special requests, refunds, exchanges, and service recovery matters professionally.
  • Build strong customer relationships and encourage repeat purchases, customer loyalty, and long-term engagement.
  • Lead by example on the sales floor and actively support the team during busy periods and high-traffic occasions.
  • Ensure all products are properly displayed, priced, tagged, stocked, and presented according to company visual merchandising standards.
  • Execute promotional campaigns, seasonal displays, new product launches, markdowns, and in-store marketing activities.
  • Monitor inventory levels, product availability, stock movement, replenishment, transfers, and merchandise presentation.
  • Conduct regular stock counts, cycle counts, and stock reconciliation to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Investigate stock discrepancies, damaged goods, missing products, and shrinkage and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with warehouse, logistics, suppliers, and head office regarding stock replenishment, transfers, deliveries, and product availability.
  • Ensure incoming merchandise is received, checked, recorded, stored, and made available for sale according to established procedures.
  • Monitor slow-moving, fast-moving, seasonal, and high-demand products and provide feedback to management.
  • Maintain effective loss-prevention and stock-security procedures to protect company assets and merchandise.
  • Oversee POS operations and ensure sales transactions, payments, refunds, discounts, exchanges, and other financial activities are processed accurately.
  • Monitor daily cash reconciliation, banking procedures, sales documentation, and financial controls where applicable.
  • Control controllable store expenses and support effective labour, inventory, and operating-cost management.
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly sales, inventory, manpower, financial, and operational reports.
  • Ensure the store remains clean, organized, safe, fully stocked, and professionally presented at all times.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the sales floor, stockroom, fitting rooms, counters, equipment, and other store areas.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, SOPs, health and safety requirements, security procedures, employment standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Monitor store equipment, fixtures, POS systems, and facilities and coordinate maintenance or repairs when required.
  • Work closely with regional and head office teams to implement business strategies, operational initiatives, promotions, and company directives.
  • Monitor competitors, market trends, customer preferences, and local retail activity and provide relevant feedback to management.
  • Identify opportunities to improve sales productivity, customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, inventory performance, and store profitability.
  • Manage operational issues, emergencies, staffing challenges, customer escalations, and other unexpected situations effectively.
  • Ensure all required records, reports, checklists, audit documents, and operational documentation are maintained accurately.
  • Support store audits, stocktakes, promotional events, product launches, and other company-wide initiatives.
