Are you experienced in stores or warehouse operations and ready to take the next step in a dynamic, technical environment? We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Stores Storekeeper to support our Technical Stores team at Merville Barracks, Circular Road South, Colchester. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, maintaining stock control, and supporting both our engineering teams and clients through reliable and safe service delivery.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team that supports a diverse defence engineering and FM environment while contributing to essential site operations and safety.

What you’ll do:

  • Receive, check, and issue stores materials in line with company procedures.
  • Maintain stock levels and support deliveries, returns, and general warehouse duties.
  • Assist the Warehouse and Distribution Senior Storekeepers or Military Line Manager when required.
  • Uphold health, safety, and welfare standards, adhering to Sodexo and legislative policies.
  • Keep the store area organised and compliant with health & safety regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with the Service Delivery team, including engineers and management.
  • Escort deliveries and ensure accurate processing of incoming and outgoing goods.
  • Respond to queries through the Technical Mailbox, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Support ongoing audits and contribute to continuous service improvement.
  • Undertake other reasonable duties as directed by management.

What you bring:

  • Previous experience in a warehouse or stores environment
  • Practical numerical and communication skills
  • Good understanding of Health, Safety and Welfare in the workplace
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong customer service focus
  • Full UK driving licence held for at least 2 years
  • Must be 25+ years old (for insurance purposes related to company vehicle use)

Desirable:

  • Prior experience in a similar technical/FM storekeeping role
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Forklift licence
  • Basic understanding of FM-related stock such as electrical, mechanical, and plumbing parts
