About the role The Storeman is responsible for managing the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods/parts in a warehouse or stockroom. This role ensures accurate inventory control, proper storage practices, and timely distribution of materials. Reporting to: Operations Manager Working location: BYD’s Reading site, RG2 0TG Key Responsibilities: Receive, inspect, and verify incoming goods against delivery notes or invoices Store materials in designated locations following company procedures Pick, pack, and prepare orders for dispatch Maintain accurate stock records and update inventory systems Conduct regular stock counts and assist with audits Ensure the warehouse is clean, organized, and safe at all times Operate warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) where required Report damaged or missing items to supervisors Follow health and safety regulations and company policies Your profile: Previous experience in a warehouse/storekeeping role preferred Basic understanding of inventory management systems Good organizational and time-management skills Ability to lift and move heavy items Attention to detail and accuracy Team player with good communication skills Forklift license (desirable but not always required) Right to work in the UK Working conditions: May involve standing for long periods Manual handling of goods Shift work may be required depending on business needs We offer: Performance and experience-based competitive remuneration Scottish Widows workplace pension Commuting Allowance Car Salary Sacrifice Scheme 25 days paid holidays + public holidays Private Health care Department & company-wide team building events.
