KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Plans day-to-day delivery of business service for stores (warehouse) management and ensures compliance with safety regulations and safe work practices. Takes corrective action as required. Allocates the workflow and resources to ensure smooth running programs including but not limited to stock/inventory control and cycle-counting program, receiving activities, parts and tools programs, picking, packing, and distribution activities, coverall verification program, maintenance of stores vehicles, machinery, and equipment.
Manages the delivery, receipt and stocking of large-scale inventory in multiple off-site warehousing including 3rd party warehouse
Supports the manager in the development of departmental budget and business plan, including identifying staffing needs, equipment, materials and supplies. Participates in development/modification of policies & procedures, both routine and emergency, to ensure alignment to changing standards, codes & regulations and allow for appropriate storage of parts and materials to ensure timely availability. Provides guidance to user departments on all store (warehouse) management processes.
Initiates, schedules, and coordinates special stores projects, and ensures that priority is given to service affecting failures; checks that all work carried out is done according to specification, quality and safety requirements. Integrates new train inventory into stores areas and oversees the proper setup of warehouse racking and utilization of warehouse equipment.
Collaborates with Purchasing Supervisor/Manager and staff regarding transportation, delivery, receiving, and storage issues and procedural problems to be solved; maintains a proactive and professional relationship with other departments to address procedural and storage issues. Liaises with suppliers, in cooperation with the purchasing department, to solve problems related to receipt, shipment, storage, distribution, or delivery of parts and materials.
Reviews and audits inventory reports; produces regular statistics. Maintains stores records for accuracy, completeness and compliance with established policies. Ensures documentation and records meet audit requirements. Coordinates monthly departmental safety meetings and conducts safety inspections and investigations as appropriate to ensure workplace health, safety, and cleanliness requirements are met.
Participates in the design, selection, and/or implementation of store-related software updates and modules. Surveys various materials handling markets; studies trends and keeps informed on new developments and products; informs Procurement Services Manager, as required.
Supervises direct reports, including recruitment, selection, training, coaching, mentoring, developing, motivation, managing performance, attendance management, accident/incident investigation, participating in disciplinary and grievance processes, accommodation and all other aspects of people management. Interacts with Labor Relation department to address matters relating to reporting union staff.
Attends after-hours on-call responsibilities to cover shifts as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned or required, which do not impact the value of the job.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

The competencies for this position would be acquired through a post-secondary degree/diploma in Inventory Management, Supply Chain Management or a related field, plus 5 years of current directly related warehouse experience, which includes supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and current experience supervising in a unionized environment.
