Description Position Summary The Strategic Business Advisor serves as a Strategic Ally for manufacturing business clients in the accounting and advisory space working closely with them to identify and achieve their goals. Strategic Business Advisors work externally with key clients building and nurturing relationships and heavily participate in business development efforts. This role also coordinates in helping to develop new and unique service offerings and expanding existing services to our clients. The Advisor has knowledge in topics such as production management, inventory management, ERP systems, market competition, finance, licensing regulations, economics, marketing, risk management, and emerging issues impacting the manufacturing industry. FLSA Status: Exempt Requirements Required Experience and Education Ten years of experience in the manufacturing industry is preferred. Some experience in Public Accounting is expected. Other experience in private/public industry accounting/finance working in environments with $1-$100 million in revenues per year. Some experience working in industry with revenues up to $500 million. Strong people skills will elevate the success of this professional. Up front as well as continued training will be provided, and this position will have regular team support but would still have to be self-driven to be successful. Major Duties and Responsibilities Strategic Business Advisors work to create, package, and sell unique and differentiating Service Offerings based on their interest and expertise, provide insight, analysis and guidance on financial and business matters to clients, and assist with special projects for the industry team and firm. Other duties include: Promote the vision, mission, and core values of the firm and supports the ONE firm concept Motivated to meet team goals and objectives without constant supervision Build and maintain knowledge of firm-wide services to effectively cross service the firm’s expansive client base Meet with clients’ teams to understand the business and operations in order to better service the client Build and maintain knowledge of firm-wide services to effectively cross service the firm’s expansive client base Identify potential client performance improvement initiatives and provide support at varying levels as deemed necessary per client Understand, analyze and provide insights and recommendations regarding a clients’ operational and financial data Perform various analyses for clients, including but not limited to budgets, forecasts, industry benchmark comparisons as well as special projects such as cost drivers, quality of earnings and leverage areas Develop and maintain proficiency of the clients’ ERP software capability to recognize what information is available to effectively assess their metrics and KPIs Develop relationships to increase the firm’s presence and market share in the manufacturing industry Assist with the training and development of manufacturing team members Industry Research Calls to stay abreast of emerging industry trends, regulations, and best practices in manufacturing industry Publish articles, speak at conferences, and participate in industry associations to enhance the firm's reputation as a leader in manufacturing expertise, and lead client spotlight efforts Assist with business development functions including proposal development and prospect meetings Assess & mitigate financial and operational risks for clients Support organizational change initiatives related to adopting new technologies, processes, or service offerings while fostering a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and collaboration within the team Assist in the implementation of new initiatives and ensure smooth transitions for clients and internal teams Desired Skills, Abilities and Characteristics Consulting with clients and staff both internally and externally is a major part of the position so relationship building skills and a mastery of business acumen is needed for this role. Other skills include: Possess in-depth knowledge in manufacturing, distribution, and/or wholesale products and services Understanding of how GAAP applies to industries Demonstrates the ability to market and develop/retain profitable engagements/clients ERP proficiency Inventory Management proficiency International tax and multi-state compliance understanding Cost accounting, budgeting and forecasting experience Understanding of industry regulations and standards Strong project and people management skills Effective communication, decision-making and presentation skills Exhibits a high degree of job management ability, such as timeliness of work, ability to work within budget, and to bill and collect on projects Demonstrates exemplary business acumen in a professional services environment Proficient with MS Office and accounting and industry specific software(s) Working Conditions Adams Brown, LLC promotes a flexible work environment with a deep commitment to technology and modern work arrangements.
