Description

BACKGROUND:

The Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) serves the province’s 136 hospitals and is committed to building a better health system for patients and families. We support our member hospitals by forming strong relationships with government stakeholders, hospital leaders, and health care partners to cultivate a mutual understanding of and shared commitment to a high-performing health system. An essential part of this work is amplifying the OHA’s key strategic priorities through clear, impactful communications that resonate with our audience. The OHA is seeking a Strategic Communications Advisor to join its dynamic Strategic Communications team and assume responsibility for a diverse portfolio of work.
The ideal candidate is an experienced communications professional who is adaptable, collaborative and outcome focused. A strategic thinker who can create and execute impactful communications plans, has exceptional written and verbal communication skills and a good understanding of issues facing hospitals. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a strong sense of accountability for your work and the service you and your team provide to colleagues, OHA members, and system stakeholders.

THE CANDIDATE:

We’re looking for a candidate with a degree/diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or equivalent. Four to six years of progressive experience in hospital or health care communications with extensive writing experience is required.
You have demonstrated experience in strategic communications– creating and executing campaigns across a range of platforms and for varying audiences. You are a strategic thinker with a passion for creativity and storytelling. You possess strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with impeccable attention to detail. You have experience interacting with executive leaders and staff in hospitals and health care as well as external consultants and system stakeholders.
An excellent project manager, the successful candidate will be intuitive, team-oriented, able to manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines, and accustomed to working in a dynamic, high-pressure environment. A collaborative team player able to build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders. You should be adaptable and resourceful, with a willingness to take on diverse tasks and responsibilities beyond the core job description as needed.

DON’T MEET EVERY REQUIREMENT?

If you’re excited about working at the OHA but your experience doesn’t quite align with every qualification of this posting, we encourage you to apply. You just might be the right candidate for this or other roles. We are always looking for great talent to join our team.

APPLICATION PROCESS AND REQUIREMENTS:

All applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada. The successful applicant must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (as defined by the Government of Canada) or have a valid vaccination exemption pursuant to the Human Rights Code. Further, they must provide proof of vaccination (or a valid exemption) prior to the start date, provide updated information as necessary, and comply with any ongoing vaccination-related requirements. We thank all applicants for their interest, however, only those selected for further consideration will be contacted.
