NHS Professionals are currently recruiting for a permanent position within Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow.
This strategic role will be key to the Trust’s role as leader and influencer in PAH Trust and in achieving PAH’s strategic ambitions.
The role is a crucial post in ensuring that PAH Trust is compliant with legal and statutory requirements and that all Fire & Estates Health & Safety Regulations under current codes of practice are addressed across our entire estate compromising our main Acute General Hospital sites and all community and satellite sites.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Oversee the development and implementation of Capital Procurement Policies for the Estates Service (Fire) responsible for development of Capital Projects Policies (Fire) for the Trust.
  • Lead the development, Trust-wide implementation, and regular review of the Fire and Estates Health & Safety Policy and associated technical standards, embedding safety into the Trust’s strategic operational frameworks.
  • Develop and maintain a Trust-wide 12-month Fire Compliance Plan and a 5-year strategic Fire Safety Plan aligned to Estates & Clinical Strategies.
  • Develop fire plans across the Trust and ensure that these are put in place across the trust.
  • Oversee regular Fire Safety Audits and Risk Assessment for all Departments.
  • Provide assurance reporting for Fire and Estates Health & Safety Compliance matters through the Associate Director to the Trust Executive Team and Board-level committees.
  • Advise Associate Director of Estates & Facilities and the Chief Financial & Infrastructure Officer, Trust Leadership Team, Trust Board and Senior Management as required on all current fire safety legislation and Estates Health & Safety, ensuring that legal compliances maintained under the current codes of practice.
