JOB DESCRIPTION

Position reports to: Director of Individual Gifts
The primary role of the Strategic Gifts Officer is to develop and maintain relationships on behalf of Roswell Park Alliance Foundation with individuals, family foundations and other opportunities that will have the potential to make gifts of $5,000 to under $25,000 supporting the mission of Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. This individual will work closely with organizational, scientific and clinical leadership.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage a portfolio of approximately 150-200 qualified prospects capable of making a gifts in the $5,000 to under $25,000 range in the next one to three years
  • Ability to make face to face solicitations for all priorities (this includes special campaigns)
  • Ability to be self-directed and accountable for both establishing and meeting goals
  • Plan and coordinate fundraising events, including logistics, promotion, and execution.
  • Cultivate relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners to enhance engagement.
  • Identify, evaluate and qualify new prospects as their interest pertains to Roswell Park
  • Participate in planning sessions with the Individual Gifts team to develop solicitation strategies and donor engagements
  • Work with clinicians and researchers and the Development communications team to prepare written proposals and associated budgets for solicitation purposes
  • Collaborate regularly with the Annual Fund Manager to ensure that donors are managed and stewarded appropriately
  • Work with high-level volunteers and Foundation board members to solicit gifts
  • Present planned gift opportunities for donors when appropriate
  • Provide meaningful stewardship of donors
  • Retain and record all pertinent information in donor database Raiser’s Edge NXT
  • Continue to learn more effective and exciting ways to bring donors to Roswell Park
  • Provide hospitality through the Individual Gifts hospitality program
  • Coordinate custom tours for donors and identified prospects
  • Work independently, along with the Individual Gifts and broader development team
  • Attend Roswell Park events as required
  • Minimal travel required (not to exceed 10% travel, mostly within the state of NY)
  • Hybrid work arrangement available

Minimum Qualifications :

  • A college degree; advanced degrees or certifications in philanthropy or nonprofit management are a plus
  • One to four years of experience of successfully identifying, cultivating and soliciting gifts
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse audiences
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with donor databases used for donor management and tracking; Raiser’s Edge specifically a plus

Pay: $65,000-$75,000 per year.
