JOB DESCRIPTION

We look forward to reading your application for the role of Strategic Intelligence Analyst
The selected candidate will work as part of the analytical team supporting the new National Centre for VAWG and Public Protection (NCVPP), co-hosted by the College of Policing. Specifically, they will:
Collect, organise and analyse data and information to make assessments in relation to known and emerging threats. Support senior leaders with their decision making in relation to how policing should respond to and prevent known and emerging threats. This role is specifically in relation to Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) and Public Protection, producing analysis to ensure that the national policing lead for the NCVPP has the insights and evidence base to inform and optimise policing’s activities and strategy for tackling VAWG and public protection threats.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Analyse, identify, review, and interpret crime data and other information sources, applying analytical techniques such as the use of structured analytical techniques (SATs), to identify key findings, opportunities for further analysis and to make recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Support the delivery of insight and analytics for the NCVPP, presenting findings of analysis to multiple audiences (internal and external) to share knowledge and influence activities across policing and the partnership landscape. Work with colleagues to continuously improve analytical outputs, including scoping of new and emerging datasets, research and information pertinent to VAWG and Public Protection.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis, identify trends, intelligence gaps, identify and investigate data anomalies. Provide relevant recommendations for best cause of action, where necessary. Enhancing insights by merging crime data with additional data and information sources.

To be successful in this role you’ll need:

  • Training in Intelligence Analysis such as completion of IAT, or Intelligence Professionalisation Programme for Intelligence Analysts or equivalent proven experience in analysis.
  • Proven experience of working in an analytical capability, producing high quality analytical reports.
  • Experience in sharing clear insights with internal and external stakeholders, using Power Point presentations, or other mediums.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

We’ll assess you against these technical skills during the selection process:

  • Experience in working with complex and large datasets, ability to merge large datasets to maximise insight.
  • Proven experience of working in an analytical capability, producing high quality analytical reports.
  • Experience in sharing clear insights with internal and external stakeholders, using Power Point presentations, or other mediums.
  • Able to identify and use additional sources of data, including insights to address intelligence gaps and strengthen the evidence base.
