ABOUT THE ROLE:

To be responsible for the strategic management and development of Powys Museums in accordance with recognised professional standards, ensuring that the service contributes to corporate and national plans, and that the authority’s responsibilities in
respect of Museum Accreditation are delivered. Responsible for the efficient and effective management of y Gaer for the benefit of local communities and visitors. To work collaboratively with colleagues across Cultural Services and to participate in
providing an integrated approach to service improvements and developments.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• To line-manage the Cultural Services Operational Lead (South) and together develop and deliver a well-coordinated, efficient and accessible service to local communities and visitors through collaborative working. To promote the use of cultural facilities for educational and outreach facilities and services which

increase awareness and understanding of both the museum and library.

• To update permanent displays at y Gaer as necessary and to select, plan, prepare, promote and implement a programme of exhibitions, activities and events that facilitate physical, social, cultural and intellectual access and that maintain and extend public interest in the museum’s collections.
• To undertake all necessary actions to ensure that Powys Museums achieve and continue to maintain the status of ‘Accredited’ Museums under the Accreditation scheme, the national quality standard.
• To advise the Professional Lead – Arts and Culture on museum service issues and to contribute to wider developments within Cultural Services.

This position has a requirement for an Enhanced DBS Check
