Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for precision, collaboration, and high-stakes problem solving? The Deputy Minister’s Office (DMO) is looking for a driven and politically astute Advisor, Strategic Executive Operations and Correspondence to play a pivotal role in supporting the government’s most senior leaders. In this influential position, you’ll shape how critical information flows between the department, Minister’s Office, and Executive Council—ensuring decisions are informed, responsive, and aligned with government priorities.
This role offers a rare opportunity to work directly at the center of government operations, where your ability to lead, coordinate, and coach will drive high-quality executive briefing and reporting. As the engine behind the ministry’s executive correspondence and reporting systems, your work will influence major initiatives, enhance interdepartmental alignment, and enable swift, accurate responses to emerging issues.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required: University degree in Political Science, Communications, Business Administration or related, PLUS 4 years related experience or equivalent as described
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience, or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
For Example:
Related 1 year certificate PLUS a minimum 7 years of experience
Related 2-year diploma PLUS a minimum 6 years of experience
Related minimum 8 years of experience.

Responsibilities

YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Leading and aligning executive briefing materials and correspondence within the ministry’s tracking system (ARTS)
  • Managing the intake, assignment, and delivery of Action Requests across the department
  • Critically reviewing executive submissions for tone, accuracy, and strategic fit
  • Coaching and mentoring divisional teams to elevate briefing quality and consistency
  • Overseeing secure workflows and maintaining compliance with FOIP and confidentiality protocols
  • Consolidating and editing strategic reports with attention to political and operational nuance
  • Collaborating with other ministries and senior officials to ensure aligned communications
  • Monitoring operational issues and proposing solutions to enhance DMO responsiveness
  • Supporting urgent government requests with credibility, discretion, and speed
  • Developing performance metrics and dashboards to evaluate DMO effectiveness
  • Leading or contributing to interdepartmental projects to improve cross-functional coordination
  • Supporting onboarding, capacity building, and continuous improvement efforts within the DMO
  • Maintaining internal tools, style guides, and workflow documentation for clarity and consistency
  • Providing surge capacity and coverage to ensure uninterrupted executive support.
