Description
As a Strategic Sourcing Manager for Meta Reality Labs, you will be responsible for developing and nurturing key strategic relationships with critical cable suppliers. You will source a portfolio of standard and custom-designed cable assemblies, which involves designing supply chains, securing supplier capacity, negotiating part costs and capital expenditures, and implementing strategic agreements. It is this role’s responsibility to ensure our suppliers meet or exceed all commercial and technical requirements throughout the life-cycle of the product(s). Meta is seeking an experienced Global Supply Manager that creates disruptive value by influencing the product definitions, designs, and specifications for our organization, and manufacturing of our Mixed Reality (MR) and Wearables hardware. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing across our ecosystem, including the commercial, operational and technical performance of our technology and supplier base. You will be responsible for quality, product and material availability, and cost that spans Silicon components for our MR and Wearables product lines. Responsibilities Design the overall supply chain strategy and execution plan for the commodity category Partner with cross-functional partners across US and Asia to jointly develop company-wide commodity strategy aimed at delivering quality, cost, and support for Meta’s product ambitions Establish, manage and own strategic supplier relationships at the executive level for the whole supply chain, including contract manufacturers, module suppliers, distributors and component suppliers Build out and enforce an Approved Vendor List (AVL) for the managed commodity area Establish a regular cadence of Supplier Business Reviews (SBRs) aimed at continuous improvement through scoring, benchmarking and sharing actionable feedback with suppliers on the AVL. This also includes investigating, onboarding and developing potential suppliers to meet AVL standards when appropriate Conduct Request for Information (RFI), Proposal (RFP) and Quotation (RFQ) exercises with AVL suppliers on new design opportunities Partner with Design, Supplier Quality and Supply Base Engineering teams to jointly evaluate supplier responses and develop Supplier Plan of Record (SPOR) decisions early in the New Product Introduction (NPI) process Initiate, negotiate and execute appropriate contracts to: Support product mass production (MP), including master supply contracts and Statements of Work (SOWs) to lock in favorable supply chain terms Support New Technology Investigation (NTI) efforts, including development agreements, licensing agreements and SOWs, that would safeguard Meta IP Be knowledgeable about the cost details of implementing features within the commodity and provide credible input into product feature design discussions Chronicle cost evolution from product inception to mass production leverage suppliers to help influence design for cost Initiate and lead ongoing cost reduction efforts to enable lowest possible total cost, which includes the cost of Bill of Materials (BOM), Material Value Add (MVA), transportation, inventory, and quality standards After ramp, identify, initiate and drive to completion appropriate Post Ramp Qualification (PRQ) efforts aimed at reducing the total lifetime cost of the program and establishing supply chain resiliency Influence supplier technology roadmaps and create internal disruptive value-add to ensure Meta’s system architecture and commercial requirements are met Drive Early Supplier Involvement initiatives to ensure suppliers are proactively providing input into new product designs and future product roadmaps Continually benchmark the industry to monitor technology trends and ensure best practices are incorporated into the Meta Reality Lab’s supply chain Own the ramp plan and work with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver a smooth and on-time ramp, which includes scheduling appropriate material preparations and tool qualifications ahead of schedule Formulate contingency plans to improve the flexibility of and de-risk the supply chain and, such as addressing long lead times, single source, potential excess inventory and any other supply chain issues Work with Supply Base Engineering and our CM partners to avoid any potential part shortages or quality problems that may affect production schedules Qualifications 7+ years work experience in sourcing, supply chain, logistics, procurement or related disciplines Experience in sourcing strategy development, supplier evaluation/selection, contract negotiation, cost negotiation, should cost models, and supply management Leadership, program management, and cross-functional teamwork experience Experience communicating with and influencing all levels of management Professional working fluency in both English and Mandarin Chinese to ensure effective communication with suppliers and internal stakeholders BS Degree or equivalent Electro-mechanical or mechanical industry experience in engineering, technical operations, or commercial roles 10+ years of sourcing experience with focus on managing custom module suppliers with factories in China and other countries in Asia Experience with high volume, Just-In-Time (JIT) contract manufacturer supply chains and design cycles commonly observed in consumer electronics Advanced degree (engineering / supply chain / logistics), MBA, or equivalent Experience with initiatives for sustainable manufacturing
