DESCRIPTION

As part of the Transport UK Group, West Midlands Trains delivers around 1,300 train journeys a day, for more than 60 million passengers a year, across our two brands - London Northwestern & West Midlands Railways.
We are committed to delivering a safe and reliable train service, by investing in our fleet of trains, stations and employees. As part of this investment, we are looking to recruit a Strategic Train Crew Analyst, on a full-time, permanent basis, based in Birmingham with travel across our network.
This role will support the Optimisation Team in the planning and coordination of reporting across traincrew. The role involves collecting data, preparing reports, and undertaking strategic analysis, within the traincrew functions. This will be inclusive of Workforce Planning, Route and Traction Competency and Roster and Diagram Optimisation.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERTISE

• Excellent attention to detail
• Basic understanding of workforce planning – desirable but not essential
• Excellent verbal, written & numerical skills
• Data analysis skills
• Strong communication skills- translating data into actionable insights
• Experience of using Microsoft Office packages in particular Microsoft Excel and Power BI
• Experience of manipulating datasets
• Experience of a busy and complex organisation in an administration role
• Experience of working in a team and prioritising own workload.
• Basic understanding of Railway Operations – desirable but not essential

• Produce periodic reporting on availability and RDW data
• Maintain records and databases related to crew utilisation
• Assist in enhancing our data workflow processes
• Support the Strategic Traincrew Planning Manager in Traincrew Workforce Planning
• Collation and cleansing of data from business functions to support Workforce Planning

Support the Driver Optimisation Specialist in:

• Creation of base rosters for Traincrew
• Creation of timetable delivery pack
• Analysis pertaining to timetable change
• Maintain records and databases related to crew utilisation
• Assisting of administration within the Optimisation Team
• Support ad hoc projects related to traincrew optimisation and cost control.
