Caterpillar's Asia Pacific Distribution Division (APD) team is seeking a Strategy Consultant. Your primary role is to supports development and execution of the mid to long-term distribution execution strategy with the business partners in Asia Pacific. What You Will Do: Works with business partners across the organization and outside consultants to gain industry trends and collect voice of the customer and voice of the business to propose ideas for business growth. Works closely with business partners to define the business problem, issues and planned approach for one or more S&P engagement components. Planning and directing all projects viewed as critical to department and the enterprise Gather information and assess the market including competitive issues, market dynamics, market service needs and the company position in the industry by securing a leadership role within the trade associations, technical bodies and schools particular to this sector. What You Have: Customer Focus: Knowledge of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and ability to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions. Communicates the importance of customer needs/expectations and commits to resolving them. Solicits customer satisfaction feedback and acts on improvement opportunities. Helps link organizational objectives to customer needs and expectations. Data Gathering & Analysis: Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to collect and synthesize data from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment. Participates in gathering and analyzing an organization's data based on requirements. Utilizes basic data collection and evaluation tools and techniques. Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment. Explains characteristics and steps in an effective decision-making process. Identifies issues and communicates with others when a decision needs to be made. Describes types of decisions incumbent may and may not make in own job or function. Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. Cites examples of effective and ineffective communications. Explains the importance of effective business communication. Negotiating: Knowledge of successful negotiation concepts and techniques; ability to negotiate successfully across the organization and with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner. Describes qualities of effective and ineffective negotiations. Explains the basic concepts of negotiating. Utilizes techniques for establishing rapport and building trust. Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers. Provides examples of the characteristics of effective business relationships. Identifies key business relationships in own organization. Strategic Thinking: Knowledge of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization. Explains how a sense of competition with industry counterparts can motivate greater productivity. Identifies the key elements of the business strategy. Demonstrates the ability to articulate how own work supports the business strategy. Value Selling: Knowledge of the principles and practices for selling products, technology and services; ability to provide overall product/service 'value' and to differentiate support offerings that address clearly understood customer needs. Presents product, technology or service costs and benefits in reaction to prospect or customer requests. Documents proposed product/service solutions to be presented to potential customers. Pursues additional 'value selling' education or training to enhance traditional sales practices Additional Info: This position requires working onsite five days a week.
