SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Appropriate trade qualification, Degree, HND/HNC or equivalent experience.
  • Hold the Institution of Lighting Professionals Exterior Lighting Diploma Level 4 and a full member of ILP.
  • An experienced Programme Manager
  • Full understanding and application of CDM
  • Ability to assess the impact of risk and opportunity and respond appropriately.
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong commitment to customers.
  • Ability to proactively develop plans, initiate and evaluate change to bring about service improvements through working/consulting with stakeholders including staff, members and partner agencies.
  • Excellent communication, interaction skills.
  • Ability to provide an environment where staff are clear about their objectives, empowered to achieve them and held accountable.
  • Significant experience in a Design Management role in Street Lighting
  • Competent in Electrical Design
  • Experience in leading staff with confidence.
  • there is a requirement to be registered with the engineering council to min of IEng
Responsibilities
  • To be accountable for leading and managing the Design Team to deliver their job purpose and to monitor their performance.
  • To manage the resourcing of a varying project workload.
  • Produce, monitor and maintain programme(s) to ensure work is on schedule.
  • To assist in the preparation of tender submissions and forecasts.
  • To liaise with clients regularly and frequently, attending internal and external meetings as required.
  • To participate in internal management meetings and delegate work.
  • To develop relationships within Suffolk county council to enable operational works to be implemented.
  • To ennsure effective management of sub-contractors and suppliers in conjunction with the Commercial Team/counterpart.
  • Understand and ensure that financial targets are met in terms of cash flow and profitability.
  • Provide mentoring, training, development and encouragement to staff to ensure the design team are resourced with sufficient staff, competent and motivated for the role expected from them
  • Ensure a regular and robust timetable of internal meetings are implemented with designers for which you are responsible.
  • To play a prominent role within the Street Lighting Senior Leadership Team
