JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Director of Athletics, the incumbent is responsible for the creation and implementation of a broad range of programs in the areas fitness and wellness. The individual is responsible for guiding and assisting the part-time staff needed to operate the programs. The incumbent may also teach classes and work with our high-performance teams in a secondary capacity, especially in the summer months.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Assist with the implementation and execution of high-performance varsity strength and conditioning program including coaching team and small group sessions.
  • Primary strength coach for men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s volleyball and women’s volleyball.
  • Ensure accountability of athletes and report attendance to head coaches.
  • Assist in S&C testing periods, logging results into databases and monitoring athlete performance and flagging issues of compliance (in and off season).
  • Assist in the preparation of annual team/athlete performance reports.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE:

  • 2 year diploma in Health, Wellness and Fitness Diploma or post-secondary education in Kinesiology, Exercise Science or Physical Education.
  • Current CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) or NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association).
  • Valid First-Aid/CPR-C.
  • A minimum of 1 year of related experience.
  • Experience in a Recreational/Fitness Facility.
  • Familiar with fitness program design and implementation.
  • Fitness administration with fitness instructional capabilities.
  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
  • The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students, employees, and communities.
