You will combine hands‑on technical expertise with leadership input, contributing to the delivery of high‑quality BIM models and documentation on major projects across sectors such as data centres, commercial, industrial, defence, health and education. Initially, the role will focus on hands‑on development and delivery, setting standards and supporting project teams. As workload and capabilities grow, so-to will leadership responsibilities such as mentoring and managing a team of structural BIM technicians. This progression will allow you to play a key role in developing high performing talent, building capability and shaping the future direction of Structural BIM within HDR Australia. Working alongside HDR’s established Digital Delivery team, building structures leadership and global BIM networks, you will help embed consistent, practical and effective digital workflows aligned with HDR standards, while contributing to the long‑term growth of the team. Key Responsibilities Develop and deliver high‑quality structural Revit models and construction documentation on major and complex projects. Manage discipline models including coordinates, levels, grids, scope boundaries, views, sheets and model segmentation. Participate in project planning to ensure digital delivery requirements, milestones and resources are clearly defined. Lead structural coordination, clash detection and issue resolution using Navisworks or equivalent tools. Support interdisciplinary coordination within a Common Data Environment (e.g. BIM 360 or similar). Collaborate closely with architects, services engineers and external consultants to resolve interface issues. Support compliance with BEPs, digital delivery plans and HDR quality management systems. Develop and maintain structural BIM standards, workflows, templates and content aligned with HDR global standards and ISO 19650 principles. Provide quality assurance and technical oversight for structural BIM delivery across Australian building projects. Act as the senior authority for Structural BIM, accountable for consistency, compliance and digital risk management. Align Australian practices with lessons learned and best practice from HDR’s global structural BIM capabilities. Drive continuous improvement in efficiency, quality and reliability of structural digital delivery. Use automation and computational tools such as Dynamo and Grasshopper to streamline workflows and reduce rework. Manage interoperability between Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino and IFC-based exchanges. Standardise and maintain structural BIM content libraries and documentation workflows. Mentor and support junior technicians and engineers in Revit, coordination tools and BIM best practice. Provide technical guidance and act as a first line of support for BIM‑related issues within Structures. Contribute to resource planning and long‑term growth of structural BIM capability. Over time, evolve into formal people leadership responsibility as workload and team size grows. Represent the Structures discipline in digital delivery discussions with clients and project stakeholders. Support project teams in meeting client requirements, delivery timeframes and commercial objectives. Communicate clearly and effectively with geographically dispersed teams. Qualifications & Experience Required Technical degree or equivalent combination of education and significant relevant experience. Typically, 10-15 years’ experience in structural BIM design and delivery within a leading consulting environment. Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit for structural modelling and documentation. Strong experience with 3D coordination tools such as Navisworks. Demonstrated understanding of multidisciplinary building systems and coordination. Experience working within a Common Data Environment. Strong communication, presentation and stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to work autonomously and provide senior technical leadership. Desirable Experience on large‑scale or complex projects (e.g. data centres, defence, health, education and mixed-use). Experience with Dynamo; Grasshopper and Rhinos knowledge advantageous. Python scripting and Revit API experience beneficial. Familiarity with ISO 19650 and information management standards. Experience with IFC workflows and interoperability.
