JOB SUMMARY:

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Structural Design Engineer who brings essential technical expertise to join our team on-site in Houston, TX. The position involves contributing to design efforts, solving technical challenges, and collaborating across disciplines under the guidance of a Discipline or Area Lead Engineer.

QUALIFICATIONS OF THE STRUCTURAL DESIGN ENGINEER:

  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening
  • Commitment to upholding company values and standards
  • Familiarity with applicable federal (including DOE), state, and local engineering codes and regulations
  • Strong communication skills for interaction with project teams, clients, and vendors
  • Solid technical knowledge relevant to the role
  • Proficiency in discipline-specific codes and standards
  • Working knowledge of structural analysis and design for foundations, concrete, and steel structures
  • Experience with structural design tools such as STAAD, STAADPro, or RISA3D
  • Proficiency in Mathcad
  • Understanding of structural dynamics, wind and seismic loading, blast design, and computer modeling
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
Responsibilities
  • Work under the direction of senior engineering leads to evaluate and recommend solutions to moderately complex technical issues in line with project goals
  • Assist in developing and reviewing engineering specifications and design standards
  • Conduct and verify engineering calculations and analyses; select appropriate materials, systems, and equipment
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, project teams, suppliers, and clients to resolve technical matters
  • Ensure all work aligns with the Project Quality Plan and adheres to established procedures
  • Deliver work within the defined scope, budget, and schedule
  • Track and report on key material quantities; perform data analysis and forecasting
  • Support procurement and subcontracting processes by preparing scopes of work, evaluating bids, and reviewing vendor documentation
  • Provide engineering input during construction, including responses to field inquiries
