MUST HAVES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (structural emphasis preferred) from an ABET-accredited institution
  • Minimum 5–6 years of experience in structural engineering design and analysis
  • Current Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D and 3D)
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (AISC, ACI, ASCE)
  • Experience in utility structure design (power or telecom preferred)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to travel overnight as needed
    A leading engineering firm is seeking a Structural Design Engineer – Power Transmission Design to join its Power Transmission Group in Atlanta, GA. In this high-impact role, you’ll be responsible for managing the full technical lifecycle of steel structure repair projects—from design development to material procurement—ensuring compliance, quality, and safety across every phase.

PREFERRED TOOLS & SKILLS:

  • Structural analysis and FEA tools such as Abaqus, Ansys, PLS-CADD, RISA 3D, or tnxTower
  • Deep understanding of utility structure design for power transmission and/or telecom
  • Strong project coordination skills and the ability to work both in the field and in the office
  • Comfortable presenting technical concepts to clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders
Responsibilities
  • Lead the structural design and development of steel structure repair projects
  • Oversee internal and external drafting, modeling, and engineering resources
  • Prepare and review structural calculations in accordance with industry codes and client specifications
  • Coordinate with fabricators and vendors to select cost-effective materials and construction strategies
  • Support field operations and provide guidance on repair methodologies
  • Contribute to proposal development, client presentations, and pilot project evaluations
  • Participate in R&D initiatives through data collection, testing, and technical reporting
  • Assist in defining and implementing drawing standards, technical specs, and design best practices
  • Participate in design reviews and support technical mentorship within the team
