Structural Engineer (Bridge) | Daniel Island, SC   Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, LLC (ICE) is seeking a Structural Engineer (Bridge) to join our South Carolina-based team in the Daniel Island office.  The Structural Engineer will play a crucial role in helping the design team ensure that the infrastructure designs meet technical and safety standards, budget, and timeline constraints. The ideal candidate should have familiarity with SCDOT Design Practices and experience working on Design-Bid-Build projects.  The ideal candidate should have 5 - 10 years of experience.    Position Summary   The Structural Engineer will perform the following job duties including but not limited to: * Analysis and design of structural components for bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and other transportation-related structural systems. * Deliver technical solutions to clients typically in the form of contract documents such as construction plans, design calculations, and project specifications. * Perform structural design utilizing AASHTO and other applicable design specifications as well as state and local design requirements. * Responsible for project management assistance, seismic design, bridge/culvert design, load rating, review and approval of construction submittals, quality control, communication with clients, and sub-contractors. * Mentor junior staff and additional managerial duties as assigned by the group leader. * A high level of attention to detail is required for this position. The position description is intended as a summary only of key duties. Other related duties may be assigned as appropriate.   Position Responsibilities * Develop effective designs, details, drawings, and specifications for transportation structures that could include pre-stressed concrete girder bridges, pre-stressed concrete hollow-cored slab bridges, steel plate girder bridges, reinforced concrete flat slab bridges, retaining walls, noise walls, box culverts, etc. * Coordinate with project team, contractors, vendors, and other consultants to ensure compliance with engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design requirements. * Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD Specifications, AASHTO Standard Specifications, AREMA Specifications, and state-specific design criteria/specifications. * Provide internal quality control for construction drawings, design calculations, and specifications to ensure technical accuracy, conformance to project requirements, and overall constructability. * Work with the Project Management to ensure projects are completed on schedule and under budget. * Must be able to independently manage project tasks. * Maintain organized documentation/archives of design files, drawings, and construction submittals. * Proactively communicate with clients, other disciplines, and sub-consultants. * Provide construction assistance and respond to Requests for Information (RFI’s) as necessary. Education and Experience Requirements * BS Degree in Civil Engineering required. * Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering desired. * PE in South Carolina required. * 5 - 10 years of bridge design experience preferred. * Familiarity with SCDOT Bridge Design practices desired. * Expert software skills with MicroStation and OpenRoads required. * Familiarity with ProjectWise, Microsoft Products, LEAP Bridge, CSI Bridge, and/or other commonly used structural design software packages is required. * Knowledgeable in job cost, scheduling, safety, and construction concepts. * Strong communication skills are expected, both oral and written. * Must be a US Citizen or have a Green Card. (Visa sponsorship is not available for this position). Expected Hours of Work This is an on-site full-time position (40 hours per week). The work schedule is Monday through Friday.  The ICE offices are open from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday - Friday. The office is located at 115 Fairchild Street, Suite 100, Charleston, SC 29492.    Physical Demands Must be able to work in a sedentary position for up to eight hours per day.  Must have visual acuity to recognize/change/add precise details on CAD drawings. When performing field work, the employee may be required to drive, lift heavy objects, walk excessively, bend, reach, point, or direct others to move objects or materials.
